What is a Targeted Assistance School?

Cherokee Charter is proud to be designated as a Title I Targeted Assistance School, which allows us to offer additional educational programming to students with the greatest academic needs. We are fortunate to receive limited funding that we allocate towards providing extra instructional support, in order to ensure that every student has the opportunity to succeed. Through this funding, we can provide tailored educational resources that help students achieve their full potential, regardless of their academic background. We remain committed to making the most of every dollar we receive, and continuously strive to provide the highest-quality education to all of our students.

What is the difference between Targeted Assistance and School Wide Programming?

To qualify as a School Wide Title I School a certain percentage of the student population must be served under the Federal Free and Reduced Lunch Program. Here at Cherokee Charter, we do not meet that percentage.

Title I, Section 1118 of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965 (ESEA) requires that each school receiving Title I, Part A funds jointly develop a School-Parent Compact with stakeholders. The Cherokee Charter 2015-2016 School-Parent Compact can be found by emailing Mrs. Wallis at awallis@cherokeecharter.org or you can find hard copies located in the front lobby.
