Parents of students at Cherokee Charter Academy understand the importance of volunteering. Parents are asked to provide 20 hours of volunteer hours for the first child and a total of 30 hours is expected for families with 2 or more children. It is our belief that the more involved parents are in their child’s education, the better the student will perform academically.
Your child’s teacher can provide you with ideas about the many ways you can assist in the classrooms as well as after school hours in order to earn your volunteer hours. There are many opportunities for parents to assist at the school. Volunteers must be available to follow instructions given by the teacher and cannot have younger children with them. Volunteers should make arrangements for younger children to be cared for at home.
Bring valid identification (drivers license or state issued id) when you are volunteering and first stop at the main office to sign in, have your id scanned, and a badge issued to you. All volunteers must be scheduled with a teacher/staff member prior to volunteering.
Volunteers are needed every day at Cherokee Charter Academy. Please ask your child’s teacher about opportunities he/she has for you or contact the PTC (Parent Teacher Co-op) for one of their many opportunities.
Visiting the school for events and activities is different than volunteering. Parents are welcome to bring younger children to school to watch plays, parades, celebrations, etc. These ôvisitsö do not earn volunteer time.

Parent Teacher CoOp
Cherokee Charter Academy offers unprecedented opportunities for parents to be engaged in their child’s education. Your close involvement with our school will help to raise funds to improve the school and to enhance the programs offered. To help organize the parent volunteers, we have formed the CCA-PTC (Parent Teacher Co Op). The PTC mission is to create opportunities for involvement in a large scale that will allow hundreds of parents to assist and volunteer at Cherokee Charter Academy.
