CANTON, GA—Cherokee Charter Academy Beta Club students were one of five organizations in the Atlanta metro area to win $1000 from the $10000 Giveback Giveaway, sponsored by Star 94.1 and Delta Community Credit Union.
“Organizations from 71 counties entered the contest, so to be one of the top five is impressive,” exalted Mrs. Miller, Beta Club Sponsor.
The contest is designed and developed to give Atlanta area school organizations the opportunity to participate for the chance to win a donation to their school, provided by Delta Community Credit Union, by executing a community service project that Star 94.1 deems one of the best illustrations of the theme “youth helping youth.”
The Beta Club Students won their award for their creative service project, “Hurricane Boxes of Love”. The Hurricane Boxes of Love were created by Beta Club students to help the victims of Hurricane Irma. Students worked very hard with the project, and the work has paid off, both figuratively and literally! “I’m so happy!” said CCA Principal Mrs. Wallis. “It was great to see the dedicated work of these students get recognized and rewarded!”
Mrs. Miller echoed Mrs. Wallis’ sentiments noting that this award, “exemplified the great work from our students and their loving hearts!” The money awarded to the CCA’s Beta Club will go to help local veterans for the holidays, as well as children in the care of The Department of Family and Children Services (DFACS).
The CCA Beta Club will continue to strive for the promotion of togetherness, love, and unity with the goal of helping the local community a better place!
